Events for Term Four

Public Speaking - Commences Wednesday 5th October

As part of our extra curricular offerings at St Agnes’, today our Year 5 and 6 students commenced the public speaking program. This is a weekly Wednesday session with an external expert Sandra De Geest who has been working with St Agnes’ students for some time. From this year onwards, public speaking will be offered at Year 5 and 6, with a uplift of skills and expectations from one year to the next.

PSG Meetings - Monday 10th - Wednesday 12th October

Invitations to Program Support Group meetings have been sent to the affected families for meetings next week. Please contact Louisa Di Pietro should you have any queries.

Whole School Science Immersion Day - Monday 10th October

Our students will be undertaking a unit of work focused on biological and earth/space sciences this term. As part of this, the children will participate in a series of ‘immersion’ activities on Monday 10th October.

Beachside Athletics Carnival - Tuesday 11th October

This carnival will involve 13 students from Year 3-6 and is being held at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve in Murrumbeena. Parents are kindly requested to transport children to and from events. Should this be an issue for your family, please contact Mr Kost or one of the other families.

School Advisory Council Meetings

The School Advisory Council has two meetings this term and the meetings will be held at school.

2023 Prep Orientation

This year, we have three orientation sessions for our 2023 Prep Class. The sessions will run from 9am-11am in the Prep classroom. The dates are listed below. Further information has been communicated directly to the 2023 Prep families.

St Agnes’ School Sports Carnival - Friday 14th October

The St Agnes’ Sports Carnival is for all students from Prep to Year 6. See Principal's report for further details.

Sacrament of Confirmation - Saturday 15th October

Candidates from our Year 6 cohort will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 15th October at the 6pm parish mass. All are welcome to attend to support the candidates.

St Agnes’ School Walkathon - Friday 21st October

At 9am on this day, all students will walk to Peterson Street Reserve (top oval) to participate in the Walkathon. This event is about promoting healthy habits of exercise and also is one of the major fundraising events led by the P&F. The children will complete laps of the oval and are asked to seek sponsorship for the event. Sponsorship forms were sent home earlier this week. As per the shared responsibility of our P&F, our Year 1 and Year 3 parent groups are responsibile for this event.

Year 3/4 Parish Mass - Saturday 22nd October

The Year 3/4 children will help plan and lead Parish Mass on Saturday 22nd October at 6pm. Please note this is a date change due to the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend. We ask that all children and parents are present at this mass. This is part of our commitment and contribution to the faith life of our parish and school.

Book Fair - Monday 24th- Thursday 27th October

During this week, there will be a Book Stall set up in our Library, providing the opportunity for students to explore and purchase new literature for home reading. Instilling a love of reading in our children from a young age is a key responsibility of ours as parents. Parents and grandparents are welcome to explore the range of books on offer. Think Christmas gifts!

Year 6 Graduation Meeting - Tuesday 25th October

A follow up meeting will be held for all Year 6 parents to continue planning the Graduation Celebrations for the Year 6 children. The meeting will be held at school at 8am.

Grandparents Day - Thursday 27th October

On Thursday 27th October, we invited all grandparents and special friends to a whole school morning of celebration. It will commence with a Liturgy in the Church at 9am and followed by shared morning tea in the classrooms, where children can introduce their grandparents to teachers, friends and share some of their best school work.

Melbourne Cup Long Weekend

The school will be closed over the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend - Saturday 29th Oct-Tuesday 1st November (inclusive). We hope St Agnes’ families enjoy the family time before a busy lead into Christmas.

Year 3/4 Hooptime Regional Finals - Monday 7th November

Our successful Year 3/4 All Star Boys Basketball team will head back to MSAC for the Regional Hooptime finals. More information to follow.

Year 5/6 Parish Mass - Saturday 12th November

The Year 5/6 children will help plan and lead Parish Mass on Saturday 12th November at 6pm. We ask that all children and parents are present at this mass. This is part of our commitment and contribution to the faith life of our parish and school.

2023 Prep Parent Information Night - Tuesday 15th November

This important parent information session will be held in the Prep classroom from 7.30pm. School staff will share important information regarding the commencement of school.

Year 3 Zoo Snooze Camp - Monday 21st to Tuesday 22nd November

Our Year 3 students will head to Melbourne Zoo for an overnight stay - Zoo Snooze. A night walk through the Zoo to check out the elephants is one of the may highlights of this camp. This is the first ever Zoo Snooze for St Agnes’ students after two cancellations in 2020 and 2021. More information to follow via Operoo.

Parents and Friends Committee Annual General Meeting - Tuesday 22nd November

All parents are invited to attend the Parents & Friends Committee Annual General Meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 22nd November. There will be opportunities to get involved in the P&F and I urge all parents to consider taking up a role.

Year 4 Zoo Snooze Camp - Tuesday 22nd to Wednesday 23rd November

Our Year 4 students will head to Melbourne Zoo for an overnight stay the day after Year 3. More information to follow via Operoo.

St Agnes’ Visual Arts Show - Thursday 24th November from 6.30-8.00pm.

More information will follow regarding this important event. I ask that all parents mark this in your calendar as it is expected that all students are in attendance, because it is a whole school showcase. Tickets will be available via TryBooking. Extended family members are welcome.

Year 5/6 Open Water Program - Monday 28th-Tuesday 29th November

Our senior students head off to Mordialloc Surf Life Saving Club for an open-water swimming program. More information to follow.

Prep to Year 4 Swimming Program - Commences Monday 28th November

Students from Prep to Year 4 will head to Toby Haenen Swim Centre for a two week swimming program. Again, further information will follow closer to the time.

iSeaiCare Dolphin Swim

As part of our student leadership program, a small group of Environment Leaders will head to the Mornington Peninsula for a swim with Dolphins. This is part of the iSea iCare ambassador program to fight pollution in Port Phillip Bay.

School Closure Day - 2023 Staff Planning - Monday 5th December

The school will be closed on Monday 5th December for staff to plan for the 2023 school year.

St Agnes’ Christmas Carols evening - Thursday 8th December

All families are invited to attend our Christmas Carols evening from 6.30pm on Thursday 8th December. It is a picnic style event and all family members are welcome.

2023 Orientation Day - Friday 9th December

Students will spend the morning with their 2023 classroom teacher on Friday 9th December. This is an opportunity to form vital teacher/students relationships.

End of Semester Reports - Friday 9th December

Semester Two Reports will be made available online through nForma Parent Portal and a hard copy will also be sent home on this day.

Year 6 Final Assembly - Wednesday 7th December

The Year 6 Final Assembly will be held at the usual time on Wednesday 7th December. This will be a light-hearted, special assembly focused on sharing of memories of times at St Agnes’.

Year 6 Final Day - Wednesday 14th December

The Year Six students will finish for the year on Wednesday 14th December at 3.25pm. Parents will be invited into the classrooms for the last hour of the day, before the children are dismissed for the final time.

End of Year/Graduation Liturgy - Wednesday 14th December at 6pm.

We gather as a whole school to mark the end of the 2022 school year and celebrate our Graduating Class of 2022 at a Liturgy held in the church. All students from Prep to Year 6 are expected to attend and wear their full summer school uniform. Graduation celebrations for the Year 6 students and their parents will follow in the hall.

Final day for Prep to Year 5 - Thursday 15th December

The school year concludes for Prep to Year 5 on Thursday 15th December at 1.30pm.
