FIRE Carrier Commissioning

By Logan Nagy

On Wednesday 12th October the Year 5/6 kids participated in the FIRE Carrier program. FIRE Carrier stands for Friends, Igniting Reconciliation through Education. It was a great opportunity to learn about aboriginal culture and promote respect towards First Nation Peoples. Michel and Louise, from the Catholic Education Sandhurst Office hosted the event and did a great job. The 5/6 students who were ‘commissioned’ as FIRE Carriers, received a badge and were welcomed into this program around a fire. We look forward to learning more about our rich Indigenous culture at school so that we can teach others.

Year 4/5/6 students visit to the Preschool

On Thursday 20th October the Yr 4/5/6’s went to the Corryong Kindergarten.  It was very interesting. We played with the students outside on the equipment, using the water trough and performed on the stage. One of the things we did was to perform a very funny magic show by the leader, Levi and his trusty assistant, Ava. During the visit, we also helped the little kids fill up the water trough by pumping the water into it. After half an hour, we had to walk back to school. We loved the visit and would love to go again.
