We understand that helping children to achieve a balance between online and offline activities is a continuing challenge. 

 

There are a number of resources and supports for parents and educators to help children safely navigate their digital world and educate them to avoid harmful online experiences.

 

The eSafety Commissioner (eSafety) is Australia's independent regulator for online safety. They provide webinars, videos, advice sheets for parents and carers to support children to remain safe online. Please find the link below to learn more.

Banyule Nillumbik Youth Service Network are also offering a free workshop for parents and carers on gaming and screen time management for young people. Please see the flyer below.

 

This online session will provide parenting strategies to optimize these online opportunities while minimizing the risks. This session is suitable for parents, carers and grandparents of young people aged 10-25.

Gaming offers both opportunities and risks to young people. This online session will provide parenting strategies to optimize these online opportunities while minimizing the risks.

  • Parenting strategies to balance screen time in the family home.
  • When to seek professional help when gaming affects family relationships.
  • The future technologies of Metaverse and Web 3.0.
  • The gamblification of video games.
  • Career opportunities within the gaming industry. 

This session is suitable for parents, carers and grandparents of young people aged 10-25.
