Respectful Relationships
Term 4 Topic
STRESS MANAGEMENT
Children and young people experience a range of personal and social stressors in their everyday lives. Activities within this topic have an explicit focus on teaching positive approaches to stress management. Assisting students to recognise their personal signs and symptoms of stress, and to develop strategies that will help them to deal with stress effectively, will help students cope with future challenges. The activities focus on the ways in which self-calming strategies can be used to manage stressful situations.
Student Voice with Bayside Council
This week, some students in Year 3 had the opportunity to participate in some workshops to share their ideas about what they love to do in the Bayside area and improvements that could be made to make it even better. These workshops allowed students to explore what a Council is, how young people their age engage with the many different aspects of Council, and what they would like to see and experience in Bayside.
Students shared some wonderful ideas and enjoyed the opportunity to provide feedback to Bayside Council. The students will also be interviewing their peers to find out what they love to do in Bayside and any ideas they have for possible improvements.
There are many benefits to encouraging student voice. By sharing their ideas and opinions, students are more likely to develop a confident voice, a capacity to act in the world and a willingness to lead others. Student engagement is also enhanced when students feel able to exert influence and participate more fully in the classroom, school and community.
