Sustainability

What wonderful Spring weather we are having, it's great to be out enjoying the sunshine and walking through the Wild Space Garden and our veggie garden.

Our veggie garden is looking great with lots of lemons, lettuce, fennel and herbs growing.

At the end of Term 3 Ned and Will from the Sustainability team weighed the soft plastics that we have saved from landfill, it was 5kg. This includes chip packets, muesli wrappers, plastic packaging from school equipment etc. These will be taken to Woolworths or Coles to be recycled and made into new products.

Following on from the electricity audit that the Year 5 students conducted throughout the school, a competition was held to make posters to remind all classes to turn lights off when not needed and set all heaters below 22 degrees and air conditioners must be set at 22 degrees or above. These posters will be put up in every classroom and staff area to remind everyone.

Below are the Senior School winning entries -

One of our winning entries was from Kiki D and Kaiah F in 4Z. They designed an amazing sign that you can see on the left. The second sign that won was designed by Charlotte R, Kirra K and Polly R (also from 4Z).

And these are the Junior School winning entries - For the first sign to turn lights off in every classroom congratulations to  Greta S and Millie G from 3B. And for the second sign about the correct heater and air con temperatures, congratulations to Sophia C (also in 3B!).

We can't wait to put these signs up in every classroom to help our school be better at looking after the environment by turning of lights when we leave the classrooms and making sure our heating and air conditioners are working efficiently!

Everyone who submitted an entry did an amazing job. The winning entries will be displayed in every classroom. All other entries can be spotted around the school in different places, like the office, library and STEM room when the signs go up next week. Well done everyone!
