Middle Years

Glenelg River and Outdoor Education

This week, the Year 7s participated in their Glenelg River Journey as part of the College’s Outdoor Education Program. This is the first time in three years that this camp has been able to occur due to COVID-19 lockdowns. The camp has formed part of Year 7 Outdoor Education since 2003 and the Glenelg River is such a beautiful environment.

Our Year 7 cohort are social, energetic, confident and have a cheeky sense of humour. The Glenelg River Journey is a great opportunity for them to use these strengths to develop friendships, resilience, leadership, teamwork, personal autonomy and initiative, all while enjoying the local environment. I’m looking forward to hearing about their experiences and how they apply this outdoor learning to their final few weeks of Year 7.

The Middle Years Outdoor Education Program focuses on learning about self, others and the environment. Outdoor education engages students in practical and active learning experiences beyond the school classroom in the natural world. The Glenelg River Journey offers a great progression into the Year 8 Anglesea Camp and Year 9 Micah Experience.

Reminders:
