Year 10 Thrive

Thrive

Share the Dignity campaign

As part of the year 10 THRIVE curriculum students were asked to reflect on their purpose and the community around them. After exploring the idea of volunteering, students started the Share the Dignity Campaign “Its in the bag” drive. A wheely bin was placed at the front desk and the school community was given the opportunity to donate items that can be placed into bags and them donated to people less fortunate.

Share the Dignity is a women's charity in Australia, that works to make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough.  They distribute period products to women, girls, and anyone who menstruates who needs support. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.

Its in the Bag:  Is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries, to donate to someone in need.

  • The year 10s have put together 14 bags filled with essential items for adults, teens and mums.
  • They have also filled an another eight bags with other items to donate
  • As part of the HPE Body Kind Week, the MGSC Colour Run donated an additional $410 to the charity through student gold coin donations.

A successful campaign and great to assist such a good cause. A huge thank you to everyone in the MGSC community that donated. The year 10 OED class for assisting with putting the bags together and Lucy W (year 10 ) for being the spokesperson for the campaign.

If you didn’t get a chance to donate, there is still time. Check out the link below and get your family to put together their own bag. The bags can be dropped off between the 18-27  November. There is a collection site at all Bunnings stores.
