Introducing our Boarding House Leaders
We are very excited to introduce our boarding leaders for 2022/2023 and allow you to gain an insight into their leadership styles and motivations. The Heads of House are looking forward to the contribution they will all make to our wonderful boarding community for the next year.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house?
I am in Loader House and I think everyone should know that Loader is a very inclusive house where everyone is always very happy to get in and have a go at everything.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I wanted to be a boarding leader so I could make a difference at Kinross Wolaroi by working with the boarding students to ensure they get the most out of their boarding experience.
What do you love about boarding? I love boarding because it provides you with so many opportunities that allow you to create close relationships with people from a range of different backgrounds.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? As a leader of boarding I hope to build a cohesive unit between girls and boys boarding by providing opportunities for all boarders to get to know each other.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I am in Loader House. Loader has great inter year mixing.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I want to be able to give back to the house and help others have a positive boarding experience.
What do you love about boarding? I love being able to be with my friends as well as being able to receive academic support with the house.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? I hope to achieve within the house, stronger friendships across years. For example, this could happen through having family groups.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I am in Weymouth House and it has a great community within it.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I wanted to be a boarding leader so I could continue to make Weymouth a great place to be.
What do you love about boarding? I love being able to live with your mates and the amount of support we get for sport and schoolwork.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? I hope to make Weymouth memorable for all the people that live in it and make sure that everyone within the house enjoys their time in boarding.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I am in Trathen House, (Year 7 house) and it has some of the best showers in the Wolaroi campus!
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I enjoy speaking to - and being a role model for - the younger boys so that I can hope to get them to replicate respect, commitment and attitude within boarding and school.
What do you love about boarding? I love my independence, friends, house mums, school and boarding opportunities, and closeness to sport.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? To leave the current year 7 students with an understanding of good character and high expectations for future years, and to welcome incoming year 7 students, helping them adjust to the boarding lifestyle. I also hope to establish good communication between myself, staff and boarders, so that I can teach and encourage the boys to share their opinions and suggestions for improvements in boarding or school life.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? Wolaroi House is an amazing place to be with many different people from all over the State. The Wolaroi boys really have bonded as one over their time here and make that bond stronger as time goes by.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I love reaching out to people and just having a conversation about day-to-day things.
What do you love about boarding? There's always something to do with mates, whether that is laughing with each other or just playing touch football between Wolaroi and Weymouth.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? I hope to have the name "boys boarding" only ever referred to in a positive way.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I’m in Miller House and It’s genuinely one of the most inclusive, friendly houses and someone or something is always making you laugh.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? To make Miller a fun and welcoming environment to live in.
What do you love about boarding? Having lots of little and big sisters because I only have brothers.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? To be someone who students from other years see as an approachable person.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I am in Weymouth House, which many people may think is nowhere near as good as Wolaroi with its new building. However, Weymouth is awesome. Being home to not only a great community but also great staff. In this way I always look forward returning to the boarding house as I can be certain I will be surrounded by great friends and will have a comfy bed to sleep in.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? Since I love boarding, I thought why not become a boarding leader. In this position I believed I could better represent the issues of boarders and be able to identify aspects of boarding that Kinross can improve. Importantly, I believed that by becoming a boarding leader I will be able to improve boarding for future people which is especially relevant as I have younger siblings in both boy and girl boarding.
What do you love about boarding? The thing I love most about boarding is being constantly surrounded by friends which means that you never become truly bored and always have someone to talk too. Boarding is also great since it makes life so easy by quickly developing routines along with providing easy access to multiple co-curricular activities. One of the best things about boarding is breakfast. Waking up each morning and having the option of a hot meal, cereal, toast, yogurt and stewed peaches along with fruit would have to be one of the greatest things on this planet.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? As a boarding leader of 2023 I hope to improve boarding by creating more opportunities for boy and girl boarders to mix, along with improving daily aspects of the boarder life. The biggest thing I want to achieve is ensuring that all people involved in boarding, enjoy boarding. This which means getting the small things right in both boarding houses and the boarding system.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I am in Loader House. Loader House is an inclusive and positive house where everyone one gets involved in house activities and has fun.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I wanted to become a boarding leader to make a positive difference.
What do you love about boarding? I love the sense of community and being able to experience living with all different personalities.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? I hope to continue to promote house spirit and create an environment where everyone feels welcome, supported, and respects each other.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? Miller House, THE BEST HOUSE. Miller is the best though; we are such a supportive group with incredible staff.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I wanted to give back to the community that had given so much to me. When I was a junior I had amazing leaders, so I wanted to be a great leader for the current juniors.
What do you love about boarding? I love that within boarding you socialise with people you wouldn’t normally, especially with other year groups.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? I aim to be a good role model and a friendly face that anyone can come to. I hope to achieve a closer boarding community especially between both PLC and Wolaroi sites.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? New House is home to lovely girls from year 8-12, everyone is very friendly and always up for a chat! To try to improve boarding for all the girls and to be there for them if they ever need anything.
What do you love about boarding? The community and all the girls!
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? Improve the boarding experience for all boarders!

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? I am in Wolaroi House. I like to think Wolaroi is a very inviting house for everyone and that all of us boys get along with each other from the years of 9 through to 12.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I wanted to be a boarding leader because I feel as though I have a good connection with all of the boys in Wolaroi house. I thought it would be a good idea to put myself out there and represent the Wolaroi community and be a role model for the younger years.
What do you love about boarding? What I love about boarding is being in a community that feels like another home. I also enjoy living with my mates and making great memories.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? As a boarding leader in 2023 I hope to set a good example for the younger years and be an approachable member for everyone to connect with or look up too.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? My boarding house is New House. New House is known for it's close relationship between years and strong bond throughout the house and is home to an amazing group of hard-working, funny and friendly girls.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I wanted to be a leader to be a positive role model for the younger girls and a big sister who can support the girls and be someone they can look up to.
What do you love about boarding? Boarding is a fantastic opportunity to be able to socialise and connect with people not only in your year level but the years above and below you.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? As a boarding leader, I hope to achieve something that will leave a lasting effect on the boarding community.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? Weymouth House, that we're the best house.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? To try and give back to the house.
What do you love about boarding? Being with your mates all the time, the on-site facilities like ovals and not having to go too far to get to school.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? Everyone in Wey to have a say and enjoy themselves.

What boarding house are you in and what would you like people to know about your house? Tower, where we have a great house mother. Actually, the housemothers are all fantastic and boarders' wellbeing is at the forefront of all that they do.
What are your reasons for being a boarding leader? I want to make sure the boys have a positive experience in boarding since I struggled with homesickness and adjusting to boarding initially.
What do you love about boarding? The freedom and location.
What do you hope to achieve as a leader of boarding in 2023? Positive experiences and better relationships.
