COVID-19 SCHOOL SETTINGS UPDATE

On 14 October the NSW Government changed self-isolation rules so that it is no longer mandatory to self-isolate at home if you test positive for COVID-19. NSW Health strongly recommends people who are sick or have tested positive to COVID-19 stay home until their symptoms have gone.

The following guidelines have been updated for students and staff at Kinross Wolaroi School:

Stay home if unwell

  • If a student or staff member is unwell, they must stay at home. If they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms, they should take a COVID-19 test (PCR or RAT) and follow the advice from the NSW Government on managing COVID-19 safely at home.
  • Students and staff should only return to school when they are symptom free.

Rapid antigen testing

NSW Health recommends that anyone who has tested positive to COVID-19 tells people they spend a lot of time with and their employer, so it is recommended that students and staff notify the school if they test positive to COVID-19.

  • Rapid antigen tests (RATs) should be used if displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Students and staff who test positive to COVID-19 are encouraged to register their positive test results with Service NSW to have access to timely advice and support from NSW Health.
  • Parents should notify the school about their child’s positive test result when notifying the Senior School or Junior School Reception offices about their child’s absence.
  • Staff should notify the school about a positive result as part of their leave process.
  • Rapid antigen tests can be collected, free of charge, from the Senior School and Junior School Reception offices.
  • The school will maintain a reserve stock of rapid antigen tests onsite for surveillance testing purposes in the event of an outbreak.

Masks

Mask-wearing is strongly encouraged where possible for all students, staff and visitors, particularly indoors and/or when physical distancing is not possible, and if they have been exposed to COVID
