JS House Swimming Carnival

After almost 3 years, we finally had the opportunity to complete our Junior School House swimming carnival. All students from Prep – Year 6 attended the carnival held at Mentone Aquatic. Our Year 3-6 students had the opportunity to participate in all 4 strokes and for the first time our Year 2’s had the opportunity to compete in the freestyle and backstroke events. In the second half of the program the JDC students competed in a range of novelty events with the assistance of Year 9 helpers and the Junior School House captains. These novelty events included a Ping Pong collect activity and a pool noodle relay.

At the conclusion of the individual events, all Year 3 - 6 students had the opportunity to participate in novelty relays, this was a great opportunity for students from all swimming levels to jump in the water and have a bit of fun. We then finished the program with a 4x25 meter freestyle house relay, the house captains were able to select the 3 swimmers to join them in the relay. The race was taken out by Thomas, followed by Blundell, Langley and Lloyd.

In the week following the event the overall and individual winners were announced and awarded a medal at the Junior School assembly. Our induvial age group winners were, Sarah W (8YO), Rose B (9YO), Holly H (10YO), Abbey M (11YO) and Amaya P (12/13YO). The overall house winner was Blundell on 111 points, Thomas finished 2nd, Langley finished 3rd, and Lloyd finished 4th. Congratulations and well done to all the students that participated in our final house carnival for the year!
