Languages Update

We are very excited to announce that we will be welcoming a small group of Japanese students to Shelford for a one week visit in 2023. They will be here from March 14 to March 21, and we will be hosting 5 students aged 14 and 15. They have just finished their Year 9 studies and are in Australia on a break before they return to Japan to start their Year 10 courses.

We will be looking for host families to look after the girls during their time in Australia. If you would like more information about this program, please email Julie Devine at jdevine@shelford.vic.edu.au

In other news, as part of the Juice Bar unit of work in which students learn to order fruit and other items, the Year 5 Japanese students took part in an immersion Japanese cooking lesson in which they made Fruit Sando, a popular fruit and cream snack in Japan. Here are some images – the girls had a fabulous time.

Mme Fournier has been working with her Year 9 and Year 11 classes on a beautiful French song called L’Epine by Juliette Armanet. After many months of practice, here is the Year 9 French class performing the song.
