News from Grade 1D

This Term, we have been learning about ‘Growth Mindsets.’ 

We explored the idea of a Growth Mindset through reading a picture story book titled ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance' by Giles Andreae.

In this story, Gerald the Giraffe, who would love nothing more than to dance, with crooked knees and thin legs, could not master the skill of dancing. He soon became frustrated. However, with lots of practice and some encouraging words from a friend, Gerald was finally able to showcase his skills and join the other animals at the Jungle Dance. After reading, we then shared with our classmates’ our achievements and some things we are yet to accomplish but are still trying our best to do. From this lesson we learnt that we can do anything we set our mind to, through practice, hard work and dedication.
