Year 7 Science

Ms Gurm asked her Year 7 Laurel Science class to draw their ideas of what a scientist looks like.  These are some of the submissions.

Welcome to Our Year 7s!

There was certainly a buzz in the air on Tuesday 1 February when we welcomed our 2022 Year 7 students. We had 166 Year 7s begin with us from close to 50 different primary schools. There were lots of nerves spoken about, but there was also lots of excitement for their future ahead.

The Year 7s spent the day in their House groups, getting to know each other and meeting key staff who will be working with them for the next 6 years. We used the day as an extension to the Orientation Day last year so they could get familiar with the Library, the IT network and also daily tasks like using their locker and opening their combination locks!

Last night we held our  Year 7 2022 Information Evening via Zoom. Topics covered during the meeting were Camp, School of Excellence Program, Performing Arts, the LAP program and also going over the role of the Pastoral Teacher. For families who were unable to join us, we have posted a recording of the presentation to the College website for you to view at your convenience.

It has been a pleasure to work with the families over the past 18 months and assist them and their child during the transition process.

Calling for VOLUNTEERS-St Anthony’s afterschool tutoring Program

Over the last three years, Nazareth has established a very successful 'After School Tutoring Program', thanks to the generosity of YOU, the Nazareth students.

Once again, I am looking for volunteers (Years 8-12) to attend St Anthony’s after school each Tuesday, to assist the primary school students with their homework. You will travel there by school bus with a teacher, arriving at 3.30 pm, and be back at school around 4.50 pm. You might like to sign up for every week, one week, every 3 weeks... the choice is yours.

It is a fantastic way to establish and build relationships with our wider community. The younger children really look up to their peers. It also broadens your experience at Nazareth, looks great on a resume, and is a wonderful introduction to Leadership.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill in the Term 1 SIGN UP SHEET located outside Ms. Douglass' office in the Resource Centre. Sessions will begin on Tuesday 12 March. Only 11 seats are available on the bus each week. So hurry if you do not want to miss this wonderful opportunity.
