Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians, and friends of Nazareth
I welcome everyone back to the 2022 school year, especially our newcomers. We have 166 Year 7 students joining us this year and twenty (20) new students from other year levels. The school year has commenced well, and our new students have slowly yet surely become accustomed to the processes of their new school.
To our existing families, who are no doubt reverting back to the daily routine of having their children back at school, it is great to have your children with us again. Despite the pandemic and a large number of reported cases, it is pleasing to report that all our efforts to minimise risk and ensure that our school remains safe is helping the Community.
All school events are organised in a manner that minimises risk and still allows face to face learning to take place. An excellent example of this is the Year 9 camps. These have now been organised so that a small number of students will form bubbles and dine, sleep and partake in activities within smaller groups rather than as a whole year level altogether. The same has been organised around SIS sport and the School of Excellence.
Our students, staff members and families have returned to a number of building projects within the school. There is no doubt that these will cause inconvenience and interruptions, however, in the long run, they will provide the College with the latest and up to date facilities.
I urge parents to please respect the new pick up and drop off protocols as the car park spaces are limited for staff members and building works. We have provided below some photographs of the major works so far.
Our local Canonical Administrator, Fr Kevin Dillon, has decided to retire as of the start of February. Fr Kevin has been great to work with and was about bettering and giving opportunities to our youth, especially those disadvantaged, and he will be missed. Fr Mark Reynolds will take over Fr Kevin’s tenure, and he also comes with glowing recommendations and will be an asset to our Community.
I bring to your attention and reflect on the College theme for 2022:
‘Building our Community in Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge’
‘You are part of a building that has Jesus for its main cornerstone’.
You, too in Him, are being built into a house where God lives in the Spirit’.
Ephesians 2:19-22
We chose the theme because it really sums up what we strive to achieve at Nazareth. We aim to assist our student’s formation in their Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge and model how Jesus and his family influenced others in the hope that our Community, led by our staff members and students, can do this for others. Hence the quote from Ephesians encapsulates our theme.
In concluding today, we have been able to acknowledge our 2021 Duxes,
COLLEGE DUX David Narvaez
VCAL DUX Khoi Dang
together with our students who scored 90 plus and the highest ATAR for each faculty. Each of these students has excelled and are inspirational in their quest to excel. I thank each of them and hope they can inspire the rest of our student population to ‘Building our Community in Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge’
Keep safe, and God bless
Mr Sam Cosentino
