Our College Foundations
The new school year has come around so quickly! At the beginning of a new year, it is always a good opportunity to look at how this year could be different to the last and what we need to focus on.
Looking around at the College it is easy to see that a lot of building works going on. Facilities are being developed and improved that will result in more and better opportunities for students. New buildings must always be constructed on solid foundations otherwise, they won’t last. Jesus must be at the foundation of what we do at Nazareth College. This is summed up in the College theme for 2022:
‘Building our Community in Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge’
‘You are part of a building that has Jesus for its main cornerstone’.
You too in Him, are being built into a house where God lives in the Spirit’.
Ephesians 2:19-22
This theme is reflected in the Bible verse below:
The Wise and Foolish Builders
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!” (Matthew 7:24-27)
The parable illustrates the importance of building one's life on and following the teachings and example of Jesus. May the foundations of our community always be built on Christ. May he be the cornerstone of Nazareth College. May our community always be built into a house where God lives in the Spirit. May God always be served in sincerity and faithfulness.
