Fundraising for 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Fundraising and Community Engagement Sub-committee met last Thursday to make a plan for events at CNPS this year so we would love to share our plans for 2022 with you.

For many years, until rudely interrupted by Covid, we have held the wonderful ‘Great Lee St Fete’ in March of each year.  However, for the third year in a row now, we have been unable to run this major community and fundraising event.

As it is yet unknown whether the Fete (or some form of it) could be held later in the year, we need to plan for some other events.

We have collaborated and decided upon the following major events for each term:

Term One – Community Picnic

We really want to ensure all new, and current, families feel welcome at CNPS and would love to hold a picnic on the school grounds.  We will need to wait until advised by the Department that large numbers of families can come on site, but we’re hopeful this can happen in March.

We would love to know what you would like to see in such a community event and welcome your ideas!

Term Two – Trivia Night – Date yet to be confirmed

Another regular event on the fundraising calendar is the Trivia Night, which unfortunately could not be held last year.  We are hoping to be able to go ahead this year with the booking that was made at ‘Reid St’ in North Fitzroy, and also hope that the density numbers will be greater to allow more of our wonderful community to attend.  It’s always a really fun night!

Term Three – Art Show – Tuesday 13 September

Alternating each year with the school production is the Art Show, which is due to be held in 2022. The students have already started on artworks for this event, which also doubles as a fundraiser with student works being sold at this wonderful event.

Term Four – Fete (or something like it) – Friday 14 and Sunday 16 October

Our current thinking is that we could potentially hold a Colour Run along with some fun stalls for the kids, on Friday, and run another event in partnership with the Melbourne Farmers Market on Sunday, incorporating stalls that work well at our usual fete to tempt the wider community. Or alternatively a smaller scale fete. More discussion is needed around this and we would love to have the input of our community on what you would like to see!

Ongoing Fundraisers Throughout the Year

The Melbourne Farmers Market (MFM) has been running the Carlton Farmers Market here at the school each month for the last few years.  From mid-February the market will become a weekly Sunday event from which CNPS and MFM share the gate takings. We are hopeful a regular weekly market will bring in many more people looking to buy direct from farmers each week.

For families new to CNPS, you may not realise we have our own published cookbook!  Called ‘Love, Lee St’ it brings together recipes from families and the local community in a beautifully bound volume.  It has sold over 1000 copies through a dedicated website, Readings and the Little Bookroom, and more copies are available at the office for $40.

We also have two elections coming up this year, a wonderful opportunity to fundraise with a BBQ, cakes and a raffle.  These have been a great fundraising opportunity in the past and will occur this year in May and November.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with organising our fundraising efforts and would love to hear from you if you have some time to help.  Please contact any of the following lovely parents by phone or email if you’d like any more information or to register your interest in getting involved:
