Principals' Update

Swimming Carnival

Our week kicked off with the swimming carnival which was a great success due to the hard work of our teachers, the generous contributions made by members of our parent community, and the brilliant swimming that we saw from our students. What was also wonderful to see was the great spirit and support that our children showed each other. The children cheered and clapped for the swimmers and the loudest cheers and the greatest support was shown to those who had to dig deep to finish their race. Our values of inclusion and resilience were truly on display. The following students qualified for the district swimming sports competition, which is to be held next Wednesday. Congratulations on this wonderful achievement.

District Qualifiers

Mollie Mc, Frankie A, Hugh M, Harry Mc, Victor W, Anton M, Monet A, Josie M, Sebastian M, Louis A, Audrey S, Alexa C, Tom B, Flannery B-C, April M, Mischa B, Miles N, Mia T, Jax T, Alia A, Ella G

Anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generation

On 13th of February 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd publicly apologised, on behalf of the Federal Government, to the Stolen Generations - the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities by the Australian government. In class this week we have been discussing this important event and the importance of the continuing work in reconciliation in Australia.

Full Week Foundies!

Starting next week our Foundies will be at school for the whole day, so expect some tired children for a while until they build up their stamina over this first term. Eoghan and Jacqui ran a fantastic Foundie parent information session on Wednesday afternoon that was well attended.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Please remember to book your time for a parent teacher interview (PTI) on Compass under the Conferences section. If you have any difficulty with this please call the administration office on (03) 9347 4822.

The parent teacher interviews will take place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd of  February. In line with DET Covid-safe advice we will be conducting these PTIs online.

As a school we are moving towards using the DET-encouraged Webex platform for online meetings, however to ensure these upcoming PTIs run smoothly we will be using Zoom as it is the online platform the majority of our staff and families are familiar with. Teachers will each send out their Zoom details prior to the interviews.

We encourage you to complete the questionnaire sent out by each teaching team level before the interview to help make the most of your meeting with the teacher.

School Council

A reminder that nominations for the 2022 Carlton North Primary School School Council close at 4pm on Friday 18th February. Nomination forms were sent to families by compass last week and are available at the office. The final School Council meeting for the 2021 council will take place on Wednesday 23rd of February.

Welcome Events

A big thank you to everyone who has come to our welcome events at Curtin Square. These events have been a great opportunity to get to know one another as well as spend some quality time out in nature. We will be having the last of our welcome events at Curtin Square next Thursday 24th of February for our Foundies families. Please come to the park at 2:45pm, have a chat and meet some more members of our school community.
