Mother's Day Stalls

On Friday May 10th we ran our annual Mother’s Day Stall. I hope that on Sunday morning, all the mothers and grandmothers from our school community awoke to a lovely gift that was thoughtfully put together by the Year 11 Business Management class.

As part of our course, we are required to study all the aspects of starting and running a business. This is the culmination of that unit of study. Everyone has worked hard to ensure that there was a range of gifts that were affordable and functional. The start-up funding for this business was the BBQ at the swimming sports. All monies raised will be donated to a charity, in the past this has included things such as HICCI, the hospital, the Salvation Army, cancer research and awareness of rare childhood diseases; close to some of our staff.

Thanks to everyone involved in the preparation and running of the stalls and especially to our customers for their support.

Year 10 Media

Year 10 Media class are currently filming for the Children’s International Film Festival which will be presented at the Cameo Cinema in Belgrave at the end of June.  This group had to green screen out the windows of my car so that they can edit the shots in post production to make it look like they were actually driving the car!  The magic of editing!!

Art Club

We are thrilled to announce that Art Club is officially up and running! Come join us on a Tuesday and Thursday from the start of lunch in the Junior Art room. Everybody is welcome! We have had students from Year 7, all the way through to Year 12 join and many staff dropping by so as not to miss out on all the fun. Bring your lunch, creative ideas and enthusiasm and we will bring the rest. See you there.

Leo Club

The Leo Club of Healesville High School has been working extremely hard this term, with numerous projects running to raise money for shade sails over the down-ball courts. Following consultation with the student community, this was identified as a point of need, particularly as it is currently a very popular yard activity for many students and there is little shade on those sunny days. Since deciding to make this project their focus, the Leo Club has raised a considerable amount of money from their out of uniform days and sausage sizzles. This term is no exception and on the 7th of May, the Leo Club organised and successfully ran a ‘Celebrate Sports’ out of uniform day for the whole school with a fashion parade and sausage sizzle at lunch.

There were canteen vouchers for four ‘Best Dressed’ categories and music to dance to, generously supplied by our Performing Arts Centre and Publicity Manager Mr Daniel Glenn. The members of the Leo Club put in an enormous amount of effort collecting gold coin donations and cooking the culinary feast also known as a BBQ at lunch time.

Special thanks go to Mrs Morley for her fabulous support of the Leo Club in volunteering her time and expertise, we are very grateful.
