STEM MAD Showcase

This week we found out that two of our Showcase students were awarded the Best Innovation for the Environment from Zoos Victoria. Congratulations to Ethan and Tousif. The boys presented their work based on the problem of Hippos at the Werribee Zoo being difficult to interact with. The boys chose this as their problem and used the design process to ideate possible solutions. They did lots of researching, including finding out about habitats, disability access and water purification processes.

Ethan and Tousif created a book with their research and findings, their multiple designs and their two prototypes. They also created their prototype on TinkerCad and were able to 3D print it.

The boys are to be commended for the way in which they were able to articulate the design process that they used, their research and findings as well as the extensive knowledge they have on the enrichment possibilities for the Hippos at Werribee Zoo. OLSC are very proud of you!

Lunch Break Robotics Session

Children in the Senior Learning Groups have been enjoying the opportunity to create their own robot and to program this robot to make moves. during their lunch time on a Monday with Elizabeth and Brian.

They will showcase this learning to the Preps later this term.

Preps wish to thank all the Parents and Friends for the purchase of the Edison Robots.

The children in Hazel's Prep Learning Group were the first group to trail the introduction of the Edison Robots. They had a lot of fun coding and programming these Robots. The other Prep groups can not wait to have their turn.

Watch this space for the next Prep Learning Group's turn at the Edison Robot.
