Term 2 Reflection

Term 2 was a very successful term where the students displayed wonderful independence and organisational skills demonstrating that they have settled into their new schooling environment.

We had a wonderful time during our Intensive Swimming Program at Swim Right. 

Our Unit of Inquiry ‘Staying Alive’ created lots of discussions around what we can do to stay healthy and happy. The students were able to follow instructions to make their own grass head that they watered each day.  It was also great to see so many families come along to our Healthy Food Restaurant to share our Rice Paper Rolls. 

Term 3: Inquiry- My Special Place

This term our Geography Unit of Inquiry is 'My Special Place'.  Students will explore the features of their local environment by using their senses of sight, hearing and touch. By using the classroom and particularly the local environment, students discover and explore features of their immediate environment. We will be finishing the unit with a fun community walk round Black Rock Village. 

This term the students will be focusing on:

Maths: Number – Counting,  ordering numbers, more than/less than, addition and subtraction.

Measurement and Geometry– shape

Statistics and Probability: Yes/no questions, pictures graphs

English: Speaking and Listening – questioning and speaking to an audience.

Reading:  sounds, words, letter formation, reading strategies.

Writing – Handwriting, recounts, procedural writing.

Spelling – Frequently used words and letter blends.

Unit of Inquiry: My Special Place.

· Thursday 5th/Friday 6th September - School Concert

· Wednesday 11th September - Geography Community Walk

· Friday 20th September-  Last Day of School- 2:30 pm Dismissal
