Orders for students commencing in Prep to Year 10 in 2022 are due by Friday 17 December for delivery in time for the start of Term 1. Any orders placed after the due date will still be processed by Campion, but delivery may be delayed.

End of Semester Reports

Parents of students from Prep to Year 11 will be issued an end of semester report at 4pm on Friday 10 December, which can be accessed via the Parent Portal link in My Aitken. The report is intended as a summary of student achievement in all subjects throughout Semester Two. Further details about individual assessment tasks, including assessment criteria and comments about the progress a student is making and areas for further improvement, can be found on My Aitken in the “Marks and Feedback” section for each of your children.

Please make sure that you can access My Aitken using your parent login details, in preparation for the publication of the reports. Any queries about your login credentials should be emailed to itsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au

We have made some adjustments to the assessment and reporting of student learning in some subject areas and at some year levels due to the extended lockdown during Semester Two. The main changes are as follows:

  • We have reintroduced the ‘P’ result used in Semester Two last year, for students in Years 7 to 10, to recognise that in some cases, while their task scores might be quite low, students have participated in classes and should not be penalized for missed or only partially completed assessment tasks during an incredibly difficult time. The ‘P’ grade is the equivalent of what some university courses refer to as a ‘conceded pass’, which grants a ‘pass’ despite some incomplete or missing assessment.
  • Student work in Physical Education have been assessed as satisfactory (S) or not satisfactory (N) for students in Prep to Year 10, due to the difficulty of assessing practical PE tasks via Zoom.
  • Library has not been assessed for students in Prep to Year 4 due to the cancellation of library visits during Home Learning.
  • Some students have been graded as ‘NA’ (for ‘Not Assessed’) where there was not enough completed assessment to accurately measure the student’s level of understanding.
  • The ^ symbol will be used on reports to show that a student’s result in a subject is derived from their completed assessment tasks, but that not all tasks were submitted.

All of these details will be summarised on page 2 of the Semester 2 Reports.

The most important thing to consider when reading reports at the end of 2021 is that our community has done a phenomenal job of remaining connected with learning and school engagement during the pandemic.

All students in Prep to Year 10 will complete standardised PAT tests in Reading Comprehension and Numeracy at the beginning of 2022, which will give us a very good indication of how much progress our students made during this year in these two very important areas of academic development. We will be using data from these tests to determine which students, if any, will need additional help in 2022 to make up any ground lost during the challenges of Home Learning.

iPad/Macbook Onboarding for 2022

Students with new ICT devices (iPads and Macbooks) for 2022 will need to prepare them for use at school during the January holidays. Information about how to remotely prepare devices to connect to the College Wi-Fi, how to install the required security certificates and how to set up email and My Aitken access will be provided to parents. You will be able to work through the steps in a self-serve process from home. Your child’s Aitken College login details and a link to the set-up website will be sent to you in early January, so please keep an eye out for that information.
