School Council

Despite 2021 we got stuff done: In 2022 more we will do.

School Council had its final meeting for the year last night and amongst the serious business of budgets and planning, we had some good laughs and even a few sentimental tears. With some parents facing their first child heading to Secondary school and others realising their primary school journey is almost at an end some memories and laughs were shared. Despite everything 2021 threw at us BNWPS did get some stuff done which we, as a community should feel very proud of:

  • Art auction a fundraising powerhouse by Jane and Sam
  • Trivia night still raising money despite not going ahead thanks to generous families who donated their ticket price
  • CET's lovely Spring steps got us moving at the end of another dark winter
  • Reconcilliation Action Plan actions by OHSC
  • Carpet/Lino replacement throughout main building
  • Upgraded toilets and installation of some fabulous new adult loos
  • Removal of the stinky cesspit of a toilet block
  • Gorgeous accessible ramp to the undercover area
  • and our fabulous STELLA building is almost done (sans lift)

A significant part of last night's meeting was going through 2022 proposed budget with Ange and considering the many variables we may encounter during 2022. The draft budget has carefully considered the many still unknown factors for 2022 and is quite conservative. While there are some wonderful events and projects being planned we recognise the need to avoid pressure on Sub-committees, especially CET, with regards fundraising and grants applications, so we're being very careful with the budget plans.

In the Pipeline….

There are some exciting Projects and Events already in planning for 2022. If you have any questions or would like to know how you can become involved in any of these, please feel free to speak to any of the school council or subcommittee members, or contact the school council email tanya.pittard@education.vic.edu.au
