Young Australian Art Awards

Alert! Famous Artist in the making!

This week, I received mail from the Young Australian Art Awards. Inclosed in a big envelope was a letter informing me that Rowan Schwabe (Unit LF) had been chosen as a finalist and runner up in the 2021 Young Australian Artist Awards. 

This was such exciting news! Rowan was presented his gold medal in front of his class, everyone in Unit LF was so proud of Rowan and were quick to offer their congratulations. One of his peers gave Rowan a hug and said “Wow Rowan, you are so amazing!”

As Rowan’s teacher this year, I was aware of his artistic talents and love of drawing. At any opportunity he spends​​​ time adding detail to, and perfecting his drawings. In about 15 years, keep your eyes open for Rowan’s name when visiting art galleries. 

The artwork Rowan received this award for was entitled ‘battling the dragon’. Have a look at it here, and remember, he is only 6!
