Prep Information Evening

On Monday evening, we welcomed the opportunity to meet face to face with many of our 2022 Prep parents at the Prep Information evening. We were able to introduce the new Prep team of Jen Males, Beth Fletcher, Kim Dellevergin and Milly Bridges and share important information about our school.

Continuing COVID Protocols

Thank-you to the members of our school community who are continuing to keep our students, staff and parents safe by closely following the covid safe protocols. It is extremely important that you continue to communicate any covid-19 related concerns directly to me and take appropriate action such as getting tested and isolating until the test outcome is known.

Year 4 Camp

I had a great day visiting the Year 4 Camp on Tuesday. Camp Allambee is in a beautiful location and it was wonderful to see the students engaging so enthusiastically and positively with the activities on offer. Thanks as always to our wonderful staff, Sarah Faella (2 camps in successive weeks!), Adam Todd, Olivia Curtis, Michelle Faulisi (backing up from the Sleepover!) and Sam Kirby (also 2 camps in successive weeks). Our parent helpers, Jo Simpson and Ben Edsall were also terrific and I’m sure that they would have appreciated being home with their respective families and getting a full night’s sleep on Wednesday.  Congratulations on a super effort to all involved.

Year 1 Dinner

At the time of writing, our Year 1 team and students are very excited about the Year 1 Dinner and Games Night. I continue to be extremely appreciative of the commitment levels of our staff and the willingness of students and parents to get fully involved and support these important activities.

2022 Student Leader Elections

Over the past few weeks, we have been undergoing the process of electing our School Captains and Vice Captains for 2022. The process was quite an involved one, with students invited to submit a written application, before shortlisted students were interviewed by Rachel Barnes and myself. Considerable consultation took place with other staff to ensure that the final selections reflected the thoughts and observations of a wide cross section of staff members. As always, the students’ written applications and their interviews were incredibly impressive - as we reiterated on multiple occasions throughout the process, they should be exceptionally proud of their efforts.

I am delighted to announce the student leaders for 2022 as:

School Captains

School Vice Captains

Will Neilson

Zara Leys

Evan Maniatis-Koutsaplis

Parker McCreadie

Sasha Neilson

Alexis Karpouzas

The remaining student leader positions will be finalised early in 2022.

Year 5 & 6 Awards

We are looking forward to our Year 6 Awards Assembly on Monday. This assembly provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge students who have excelled in their Academic performance, Citizenship, General Excellence and performance in Specialist subjects.

Giving Tree

A reminder that our Annual Giving Tree is now ‘open for donations.’ Suggestions for gifts include toys, books, stationery, sporting equipment and puzzles. We have also been told art supplies are always very welcome (paints, coloured pencils, sketch books etc). Gifts will be delivered to an organisation called Whitehorse Churches Care, who along with the Salvation Army will ensure all gifts are distributed to a child in need aged 16 and under. Closing date for donations is Tuesday 14th December.

Heath Harris

Included in this newsletter is information about Year 6 student Heath Harris. As the photos indicate, Heath has amazing locks and has volunteered to have his hair cut on December 14th. Heath’s hair will be used to make wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy and funds raised will go towards the Leukaemia Foundation. We are very proud of Heath and would appreciate any contribution that you are able to make.
