By Andrew, Nicholas, Liam and Agnes

Canberra Camp - Agnes

Harmony Day - Liam

Dendy Swimming Carnival - Andrew and Nicholas

On Tuesday at 6.20 am the Year 6's are heading over to Tullamarine Airport to catch a flight to Canberra.  In STEAM this term we are learning about Civics and Citizenship and Canberra is the home of Politics in Australia. We are going to Canberra for our Year 6 Camp and we will be visiting the Australian Institute of Sport, National Library of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House, the National Museum of Australia, Australian War Memorial and Questacon, just to name a few. To top it all off we will be staying at Tall Trees Hotel. A big thank you to Miss Otte for organising this as it is an opportunity we are grateful for, and we are all over the moon about attending.

On Wednesday, March 7th  the whole school will be participating in a Harmony Day. Throughout the past week we have been greeting each other in foreign languages, so far we have used Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, French and Japanese. On the day the students are invited to wear orange, the colour of Harmony Day or an outfit that relates to their Family Heritage. At the start of the day the students and teachers will participate in a parade and many other Harmony Day related activities. There is also a Galilee Cookbook being started so families are encouraged to bring in recipes they love, to add to this book. We would also like to say a big thank you to Mr Martello who has organised this event.

On Monday March 5th, some students representing Galilee are going to the Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre to participate in the Dendy Swimming Carnival. There will be six different races. Medley Relay, Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Freestyle Relay. The swimmers will leave school at around 9:00 am and the carnival will last all day. We wish all the swimmers good luck in their races and we thank Mr. Tobin for all his support and organisation.

Year 1 Class report

We have been learning to count backwards from 100 in Year 1 this week.

We have been having fun and getting some exercise by dancing and singing while we learn.

Here is a video of us all in class.

2018 Swimming Lessons at MSAC

On Monday the 12th of February 2018, the Year 3-6 students started their week off with some swimming lessons at MSAC.

The first day of swimming involved lessons about freestyle swimming.  The second day of swimming involved backstroke.

The third day we learnt breast stroke technique. On Thursday we perfected the dolphin kick. We learnt to use flippers and had so much fun. It was extremely hard to walk in the flippers.

On the last day we had a lifesaving day. It was so much fun. We had a great week.
