Around The Primary

Dear Parents

Today the Junior students celebrated Mass in our beautiful College chapel. It was wonderful to see the young children showing reverence throughout the liturgy. Special thanks to Miss Saraco and Year 1G for preparing our final Mass for the term.

Our Primary Open Night is on Monday 18 September from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. All classrooms will be available for parents to visit and to celebrate with your children their learning journey. Feel free to browse through every room not just your own child's classroom because there are wonderful things to see in every space of the school. Please extend the welcome to your wider family, it would be great to see grandparents too.

This night is part of the Primary School’s Reporting process. As such, while your child is touring you around their classroom, encourage them to explain to you their learning journey. It is important that they explain to you what they learnt and the process involved with particular learning activities.

It is important to note that Open Night is not an occasion for a brief teacher interview about your child's progress as the staff need to be available to welcome everyone visiting their classrooms. From 5:00pm onwards you might like to make way to the MacKillop Room or Library to experience some of the musical talents of our students.

I’m sure you will find the evening an enjoyable and rewarding experience with your family.

Kind Regards

GO EAGLES GO!

Thank you for the great letters Year 4B wrote to the Club. We have put them up on the wall outside the change rooms so each time the players walk past they can read the great messages of support.

Mark LeCras was particularly impressed by the great handwriting that went into every letter. As you can see in the photo he gave everyone a great big thumbs up!

Best wishes

SPORTS NEWS

2017 Years 3-6 Inter-house Athletics Carnival

Last Thursday week the Years 3 to 6 Inter-House Athletics Carnival was held in ideal weather conditions. The competition throughout the day was close and Loreto House eventually coming out on top.

The final points were as follows:

1st Loreto (413)

2nd Campion (383)

3rd  Koolyangarra (382)

4th Ward (290)

5th St. Louis (286)

6th Loyola (180)

Throughout the carnival the leader-board kept constantly changing; however, in the end Loreto just held off the fast finishing Campion and Kooly teams. The children displayed great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship during the carnival. The ‘timing gates’ once again added real excitement and a sense of professionalism to the event. A big thank you to Chris from Timing Solutions for his excellent work on the day. A special mention to the Parents’ Association for their continued, generous sponsorship of the timing gates for the trials and the carnival.

I would like to acknowledge the wonderful efforts of the Year 6 House Captains, staff, parent volunteers and the Grounds and Maintenance team. Finally, special thanks to Karen Tighe for her wonderful commentary throughout the day.
