A message from the Principal
SCHOOL FETE
I would like to thank all parents and staff that assisted with our school fete last Friday. It was great to see so many come together as a community for the benefit of our students. The school is raising funds for the new Year 4-6 play equipment. The total cost of this project is over $100,000. Despite the weather, we all had a fabulous time, especially the foam party at the end. I want to acknowledge and personally thank the following:
- Class stall coordinators
- Ride band and raffle ticket money counters
- Everyone who made cakes
- Family and friends who manned stalls
- Everyone who donated to the White Elephant stall
- Parents who helped set up and pack up
- Staff for their support (both during and at the end) for giving their time to man stalls and clean up.
- Administration staff for counting the money
- Our performers including Junior and Senior Choir
- Students for their wonderful umbrella and fan art work
The Fete was a success due to planning and organisation of two very special people, Alba Galban and Melanie White. Alba and Melanie worked so hard all year planning for this major fundraising event, I am sure that they are proud of their achievements. Once all expenses are paid, I will let the community know how much the school raised.
REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE
Mr Cox and our School Captains Poppi and Daniel and Maddy & Sam, our Vice Captains, represented the students of Kingswood Primary School at the recent Remembrance Day Service, hosted by the Rotary Club of Dingley Village. It was great to engage with our community on this important day.
Student Achievements
GOOD LUCK LAUREN-PACIFIC SCHOOL GAMES
We wish Lauren 56R all the best of luck as she represents Kingswood Primary, Victoria and Australia in the 10th Pacific School Games in Adelaide. Lauren is competing in the T37 Under 13 Girls' Multiclass sprinting and long jump division. What is very impressive is that Lauren has had no formal athletics coaching or training. I am sure that Lauren has a very bright future ahead of her.
Lauren is holding a Fund Raiser at Woolworths Dingley, this Sunday morning, 26th November.
There will be Egg & Bacon Rolls and $2 Raffle Tickets, the Major Prize is a Kia Cerato valued at $26,301
Harley in 1B recently held a lemonade stand whilst his family had a garage sale. The lemonade and orange juice was very popular and he raised $280 which he donated to the White Ribbon charity. We are very proud of Harley's efforts.
Sarah in 1H has been saving up for approx 7-8 months by selling her toys she no longer plays with, birthday money & relatives giving money for the charity. Sarah donated the money she saved to the Monash Children's hospital. All up, she saved $180.20 which she presented yesterday.
NEW SCHOOL PLAY EQUIPMENT
I have been liaising with several play equipment consultants over the past few weeks. Our aim is to design and install new play equipment suitable for students in Year 4-6 that is challenging, stimulating, builds strength and agility. The students selected various elements of the equipment and their choice is being included in the final design. It is anticipated that the equipment will be installed over the summer holidays, ready for the students when they return to school in 2018.
NEW YEAR 3 BUILDING
You will have noticed a new portable building in the school grounds. This new building will be for two (2) Year 3 classes in 2018. Next year our numbers will increase to over 600 students. Kingswood Primary is the number one school of choice in Dingley Village, and is recognised as a great school that builds the foundations and makes a positive difference in the life of each student.
