Director of Mission

And so ends for first term of the year and what a term it has been. It was action packed and an exciting start to this new position. A lot of it was spent planning the faith formation for the future and the remainder of the year should be just as busy and exciting.

I am extremely proud of some of the initiatives that took place in term 1 and our Year of Youth activities and promotions were a great success. Project Compassion achieved more than expected and will be presented to a representative in term 3 where we will reveal our final amount raised. The effort from Yr 8 in driving that initiative was impressive to say the least.

Another part of my role is to promote service and stewardship within the College. I have been watching and recording the efforts of many in this first term and look forward to bringing attention to these efforts next term with the return of the Marian Way segment and bigger rewards for acts of kindness and service. Our connections with the Marist and Sisters of Mercy are continuing to grow and I have been researching opportunities provided by both for our students to participate in.

Plans for the Wagga Wagga festival are well underway and Mrs Segrave, Mr Moore, Ms Star and myself all took part in a training and formation day in preparation for the festival last Monday. We currently have over 30 students planning to attend and it is going to be a huge event in forming future leaders for our community. The first week back we will be conducting a formation day with the students to ensure they are ready for the big three days. It is going to be an awesome adventure!

Once again I would like to take the chance to highlight the main guest for this event.

The great news is that John will be attending Marian the following Tuesday for a performance for all of our students and the local Primary students. He will be assisted by all those who will attend the festival. This is an amazing opportunity for our community and I will keep you posted with the progress.

The only thing left to do is to wish you all a safe and happy holiday with family and friends. The break is well deserved for many and hopefully we will all return with as much energy as we had in term 1.

As always I am open to any ideas on how you feel our faith formation at the College can continue to strongly grow in mission and service please do not hesitate to contact me through the office or on nevilleh@ww.catholic.edu.au.

Kind Regards and have a great holiday.
