Marian Catholic College - Cross Country Carnival

On Tuesday 27th March, Marian held the 2018 Cross Country Carnival at Lake Wyangan. There was a fantastic atmosphere on the day with some fantastic results.

I am also very pleased to announce that the winning house for the 2018 Cross Country Carnival is Marcellin House. This is a fantastic effort and great participation on the day, well done.

The top 8 placings are eligible to represent Marian at the BISSA Cross Country Carnival, at Narrandera Racecourse on Monday 14th May. A list of students is on the staffroom window. All students wishing to attend, need to have their note handed into the office at the beginning of

term 2.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 2018 - FRIDAY 4th MAY

Compulsory attendance is expected for the whole day. If you are unable to attend, you must provide a note from your parents.

  • No student is to leave the grounds without Mrs Segrave’s signature. Late arrivals are to see Mrs Segrave or Mrs Iannelli to sign in. Once the carnival has finished students are free to leave. There will be some buses bringing students back to school.
  • All appointments made for the day must be cleared and signed by Mrs Segrave during the carnival. These notes must be shown to your Year Coordinator before leaving.
  • Students are expected to be at Westend Oval by 8:50am. You are to locate your Homeroom teacher to mark off your name and receive your code. You are then to move to your house areas which will be marked out on the day.
  • Students who need to come to school first, there will be buses available from the school. Meet at Wakaden Street. The bus leaves at 9am sharp.
  • Please bring drink bottle, hats, sunscreen and sun safe clothes.

 

  • The stadium is out of bounds. Drinks and food will NOT be available inside the stadium and the toilets inside the stadium are also out of bounds.
  • Please wear you House colours. You can bring banners and balloons to support your House, no streamers and no horns. These can be confiscated.
  • Points will be awarded to all competitors who compete in an event.
  • Listen to announcements; once your event has been called then proceed to marshalling area. Track events have precedence over field events. If they overlap you must report to your field event and register your name then return to your track event.
  • Age divisions are determined by your birth date in 2018. If you are turning 14 anytime this year, you are in the U/14’s competition.
  • No ordering food or receiving deliveries of food from outside Westend Oval. Family and friends are not to drop off food at any time.
  • For Field events, students must have shoes on at all times: No shoes =No event.
  • Students wishing to compete in the 1500 m race – MUST be at West End Oval by 8.00 am. Races will commence at 8.15 am.
