Putting a 'Spring' back

in our step

A Word with Whitney

It’s mid-term and with spring fast approaching with more daylight and sunny skies ahead, spring helps put a ‘spring back in our step’ after the gloominess that winter can bring.  With this change of season approaching, I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on building a growth mindset.

After all, “Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent.”( Bob Keeshan).

Let’s break this down into a few simple steps to help put into action for children and ourselves.

Building a growth mindset:

  • learning from your mistakes.
  • focusing on your efforts, not on the end result
  • remembering that practice makes progress.
  • look for ways to improve and the space to reflect.
  • embrace imperfection and creativity
  • view challenges as an opportunity to grow.

I look forward to what the rest of Term 3 has instore and very much look forward to the longer, brighter days ahead as Spring draws near 😊
