Principal's Message

with Mr Brendan Gill

Thank you to parents, staff, and students for their enthusiastic participation in last Tuesday’s Book Parade.  It had a strong focus on reading, and it was wonderful to celebrate many of our students’ achievements.

We have taken great strides forward in all things library related at John Paul II in 2022.  Our new Head of Library, Mrs Kathryn Jaeger and our Library Technician, Ms Kristia Gluyas have a done an excellent job breathing life into our old collection and planning for the future.

We love books and reading at John Paul II and we are excited about our new library. Lots of planning has gone into this and the building will commence next year when our new hall is finished. Keep reading, and as Hermione Granger says in Harry Potter, “if in doubt, go to the library’.

Speaking of all things literacy, last week was Speech Pathology Week for 2022.  We are lucky enough to work with our very own (and very wise) Speech Pathologist Lisa Johnson.  We thank Lisa for her expertise and the commitment she displays to the John Paul II community.

Think You Know

On 22 August students from 3-6 participated in a Think You Know presentation from Tasmania Police.  It was an excellent opportunity to focus on safety with screens, social media, and gaming.  The students were very engaged and learnt some excellent practical tips.

On 20 September at 6.00pm we have a parent session.  Parents are strongly encouraged to come along and learn practical information from the Federal Police.  In many of the issues that schools deal with, insufficient parent boundaries and knowledge contribute significantly to the challenges.

Enjoy this fortnight's newsletter.
