From Mandy O'Mara

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week 330 parents were randomly selected to participate in a Parent Opinion survey. Each year the Department of Education and Training (DET) randomly selects parents from each Victorian Government school to participate in this survey. The survey seeks parent opinion on measures of learning, teaching, school environment and relationship with the school community, and provides us with actionable insights in key elements for school improvement. We are looking forward to receiving the responses later in the year. If you received a Compass post informing you that you were selected, I encourage you to take the opportunity to participate.

Last week I reminded you of the DET policy related to student mobile phones. If you haven’t already done so, please familiarise yourself the policy which is available on our web page.

Do you have a book week costume organised? On Tuesday 23rd August we will be celebrating Book week. Each year since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. This year the theme for Book Week is:

”Dreaming with eyes open.”

We are looking forward to seeing some fabulous costumes and we are really excited about inviting parents to our parade. See the flyer for further details.

We are now well and truly in the planning phase for 2023 and as such it is important that we have a true and accurate indication of our student numbers for next year.  If you have neighbours or friends looking to enrol a student in 2023 please encourage them to contact us ASAP to organise enrolment forms. We currently have 44 Prep students enrolled for next year. We are beginning to process those enrolments and organise groupings and staffing. Enrolled students will be receiving correspondence from us in relation to orientation days and information sessions. If you have a child starting Prep next year please ensure you submit your enrolment forms ASAP so that you do not miss out on important correspondence.

If you are one of our existing families and relocating at the end of the year or leaving us for other reasons, please let us know as soon as possible.

Professional Practice Day

Please remember that our school will be closed on Monday 22nd of August. Staff will be participating in a Professional Practice Day. OSHC will be open for child care on the day.

Kind regards,

Mandy O’Mara

Acting Principal.
