What's Happening in Upper Division

Teachers:  Ms Leah Miller, Mr Brad Hunt & Mrs Emma Schaeffer

This term students have worked diligently to complete their informative literacy unit of work ‘Emu’ by Claire Saxby. We implemented a number of strategies to predict, summarise and construct an information report on emus.

We have also been building on our writing skills by viewing a stimulus such as a picture or video to centre our writing and build on our stamina as well. Students are really enjoying discussing these images and making connections to make their writing more meaningful.

In conjunction with our Science unit ‘Earth and Space’ students researched a human action or natural distaster that has changed the Earths surface over time. Students presented their information using Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.

Students have been looking at mass and multiplication in Mathematics. We have been comparing masses by hefting and measuring a variety of weights using scales. Students also experimented with applying written strategies when multiplying.
