Message from Student Council leaders/Vzkaz od vedoucích studentské rady

Overall, after almost two years of quarantine, the return to school has been quite a shock for many students at ECP. This is why, as President (Tomáš Vladyka) and Vice President (Martin Růžička) of the Student Council, we have made a pledge to restore the spirit and community that the school is known for. In a way, it is this community that motivated us to sign up for these roles to begin with – there is nothing above the feeling of being helpful to your school and its people.

We plan on doing this through the organisation of new events combined with the reinstatement of old traditions. This started with the Halloween Fair on 22nd October, allowing all year groups to properly reunite after the lockdown. Alongside this, we plan on making numerous other changes that regard the school’s facilities, such as the introduction of vending machines or the purchase of new sports equipment.

Additionally, we hope to work with the Upper School team to make more large-scale changes, continuing the legacy of previous presidents. The main of these is student-teacher feedback, which will dramatically increase the school’s transparency. We would like to work out a way for more frequent feedback between Progress Checks, for the students to have more information about their grades and fields of areas where they should improve. Tying in with our social goals, we also hope to strengthen the community by discussing the option of yearbooks, even if we face adversity in doing so. 

Through these changes, we hope to make ECP an even better place to study at, even if it may seem impossible at first! Thank you for choosing us as your Student Council leaders.

Celkově vzato, po téměř dvou letech karantény, byl návrat do školy pro mnoho studentů ECP docela šok. Proto jsme se jako předseda (Tomáš Vladyka) a místopředseda (Martin Růžička) studentské rady zavázali obnovit ducha a komunitu, pro kterou je naše škola známá. Určitým způsobem je to právě tato komunita, která nás motivovala k tomu, abychom se do těchto funkcí přihlásili – není nic lepšího než pomoci své škole a jejím lidem.

Komunitu chceme podpořit prostřednictvím pořádání nových akcí v kombinaci s obnovou starých tradic. Začali jsme Halloweenskou akcí 22. října, která umožnila všem ročníkům, aby se po lockdownu řádně sešly. Kromě toho plánujeme řadu dalších změn, které se týkají vybavení školy, jako je zavedení automatů nebo nákup nového sportovního vybavení.

Dále také doufáme, že budeme spolupracovat s týmem pro 5. a 6. ročník na provedení větších změn, čímž bychom chtěli pokračovat v odkazu předchozích prezidentů rady. Jako hlavní změnu navrhujeme zpětnou vazbu mezi studenty a učiteli, která dramaticky zvýší transparentnost školy. Rádi bychom vymysleli způsob, jak získat častější zpětnou vazbu mezi průběžnými hodnoceními (Progress Checks), aby studenti měli více informací o svých známkách a oblastech, kde by se měli zlepšit. V souladu s našimi sociálními cíli také doufáme, že posílíme komunitu diskusí o možnosti produkce ročenek a postavit se v této věci nepřízni osudu.

Doufáme, že prostřednictvím těchto změn uděláme z ECP ještě lepší místo pro studium, i když se to na první pohled může zdát nemožné! Děkujeme, že jste si nás vybrali do vedení studentské rady.
