From the Acting Principal

This week we welcomed back Foundation to Year 2 and Year 12 students. It was wonderful to see the school return to a little of the normality that makes up a school day. Staff have been mindful that our students have needed to adapt to the routine of school and they have enjoyed frequent brain breaks and time to catch up with their friends. The ‘vibe’ at the school on Tuesday when the students had footy colours day was wonderful. From all reports, the students have really enjoyed being back at school, as have our staff.

We are watching in hopeful anticipation that we will be able to have all our students return from Week 1 of Term 4. We are mindful that directions around the return to school come from the State Government and that at this stage there has been no clear direction regarding the return of students from Years 3 - 11. We will continue to communicate with our families, any information relevant to the school program over the holiday period. I want to thank you all for your patience and support as we navigate these difficult times with you.

Your child’s TA would have checked in with you this week to remind you that the official change over to the new college uniform is in Term 4 and also to see if any assistance was required for your family. We intend to support families with this transition, so please communicate with your child’s TA if you need support. There is more information regarding the uniform in the Community Wellbeing section of today's newsletter.

Last weekend our Church recognised Safeguarding Sunday. On this day, our Church recognises and prays for those who have been abused, their families and supporters. There is commitment made for the ongoing support of people who suffered abuse. Further information about safeguarding Sunday can be found at: www.catholic.org.au/safeguardingsunday. Please keep all those in our community and the wider community who have suffered abuse, in your prayers.

Next term we will be joined by Mary Fitz-Gerald who will lead our college for Term 4 while the recruitment process occurs for our new College Principal. Mary has a wealth of experience and we are very much looking forward to her support and leadership next term. Change can bring uncertainty for many but I would like to reassure you that our College has a strong group of leaders and a committed staff who support each other and most importantly our students. We have a strong tradition and college values which we hold as central to our purpose. We are supported by Catholic Education Sandhurst who have our best interest at heart and will conduct a rigorous process to ensure that our College is led well into the future.

I would like to take the opportunity to again thank you all for your ongoing support of your child(ren) during this remote learning period. I sincerely hope that there is some time of joy for your family over the coming two week holiday period. If you have the chance to spend some time away, please stay safe.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Goode
