Our books need to find their way back to school

As we reach the end of Term 3 we would normally be asking students to hunt for any books which are by now quite overdue and asking that they spend the holidays looking for them. We realise that this year has again been an unusual one and students may have had trouble bringing books back to school.

Numerous lockdowns and extended periods of remote learning in 2021 have not allowed students to access the Library regularly to borrow and return books. There are now many books which have been borrowed during the year that need to find their way back to the Library.

We would really appreciate your help in finding any books borrowed from the Library and getting your children to return them to us after the holidays.

Reading

We really hope that you take some time to read what you enjoy over the holidays. This can be outside in the sun or shade, away from computer screens.

I have just finished reading the last book in the Once series by Maurice Gleitzman. Always (book seven) reintroduces us to Felix in the present when Wassim, a boy from Eastern Europe, is instructed by a note from his grandfather Amon that if he was ever in trouble he should ask Felix for help. Wassim needs help to protect himself and his Uncle from the Iron Weasels. These thugs are determined to spread their hate and racism. Felix gets more than he bargained for when rage from the past comes back to taint the present. Is he able to travel from Australia to help Wassim and give him good protection? A fitting end to the series of seven books and a harsh look at the world we live in today where hatred still creates deadly situations for innocent people.
