DIRECTOR OF CATHOLIC IDENTITY

SEEDS OF JUSTICE

On Thursday October 29, a group of students participated in the Seeds of Justice – Opening the Doors of Mercy program focused on asylum seekers.

We joined several different schools across Victoria between 10:30am and 3:00pm remotely through google meets. We had the opportunity to learn about Asylum seekers in Australia from guest speakers Sally Morgan and Asma Mohammed Rahim from Hope Co-op and Angela from Young Mercy Links. We learnt about what asylum seekers are classified as and the much deeper impact than just the definition.

With more knowledge and exposure to this current world issue the Mercy Action group is looking forward to implementing more ideas into the college to create more awareness and move forward as a college community together. We aim to create a greater connection and understanding of what Asylum seeking is like and how we can make a difference for those less fortunate in our community. We are all really grateful for this amazing experience and it was definitely an eye opener to realise the injustices that occur every day in the world.
