What is Tennis 4 Teens?
Tennis 4 Teens is a non-competitive, stress-free, fun, social program that offers participants activities both on and off court. Tennis 4 Teens is a program designed by teens, for teens and has the following values at its core:
- Youth have a “say” in the activities conducted in a session.
- Social element pre and/or post on court play.
- Flexible i.e. drop in/out/Pay As You Go.
- 1 to 1.5 hours per session (including all social activities).
- Active Facilitator.
- Use of an online platform through tennis 4 teens website to sign up to sessions.
This program has been made possible as a result of funding we received from Tennis Victoria and VicHealth. They have developed a program that encourages youth aged between 12 to 17 years to be active in a non-competitive/social environment. More details on what the program is about can be found at www.tennis4teens.com.au, in particular the three videos on the About page.
Walk to School month runs from Monday November 1 – Friday November 26. This year we are doing things a little differently and making it very easy for our local schools! Due to students just returning to school and teachers being extremely busy, we have made some changes and are running a Local Competition for all school aged students – see below!
Why Walk to School? It encourages Victorian school aged students to walk, ride or scoot to and from school. It’s a great way to help students learn healthy habits and achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity, every day. Along with the health benefits, it’s also a great way to make friends, improve fitness, and build confidence. Active travel options to and from school reduce traffic congestion, save on parking and reduce our impact on the environment. Remember that if you are facing barriers to participation (such distance, habit, safety or remote learning) and cannot do a traditional Walk to School program, you can modify it to fit in with your daily school schedule for example; walking laps around the oval, walking during lunchtime or active breaks throughout the day!
Key Information:
- We’re putting the fun back into walking and riding to school by running a Local Competition giving students the chance to win 1of 3 Scooters. The details of the competition are outlined on the attached flyer. All other entries will receive a prize, just for entering!
