12C - Around the Traps

Josh Carr

Literacy

This week we have been working on summarizing and synthesizing what we have read and practising noticing the most important part of what we read. In writing, we are learning how to write procedural texts. We have been focusing on putting the steps in order, including all the details and thinking about whether another person could follow our instructions.

Maths

This week the Maths focus is multiplication, we have been looking at the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. More than just learning the tables, we have been looking at how multiplication works and how we can use groups to solve other multiplication problems.

 Inquiry

Our Inquiry Unit this term is about Stimulating Science. Students will consider changes that we experience in our lives through the lens of four different branches of science including; biology, earth and space science, chemistry, and physics. They will make predictions and scientific observations as they conduct experiments. Each student will show what they have learnt by identifying 'science' in their house and recording their understanding of each branch of science.

RE (Religious Education)

Our RE Unit is focusing on prayer and how we can talk to God in many different ways. Students are being helped to understand that prayer is an expression of God’s relationship with each of us and that we can pray for different reasons such as prayers of praise, thanks, forgiveness and petition.
