Remote Learning

In what has certainly been a challenging few weeks with more lockdowns, it is fabulous to see so many of our students engaging with their classes and teachers. We understand that remote learning is incredibly difficult for some students and we commend our students for staying on track with their learning. It is really pleasing that we have had so many positive acknowledgments (green chronicles) coming through to congratulate students on their efforts over the past few weeks. Keep up the great work.

For those students who have found remote learning challenging, set yourself a small goal of what you want to achieve each day and keep doing the best you can. Parents, if you are concerned about your child’s progress, please contact their classroom teacher or a member of the Junior School Team, as always, we are happy to support you in any way that we can.

Year 8 Camp

With our city camp looking less and less likely to proceed due to COVID restrictions, our year 8 coordinators have started to explore alternative options for camp. Mr. Scott and Ms. Keegan are working hard to try and get a camp up and running during term 4 if restrictions allow. We will keep students and their families up to date as soon as we have any news to share.

Term 4

We are looking forward to seeing our students back on campus next term. We hope you all have an enjoyable term break and hopefully see you all back at school soon.

Middle School Report

Welcome to the last newsletter of Term 3, we understand that this has been a challenging term for everyone.

We would like to congratulate all of you who have managed to attend online classes every lesson and have been keeping in contact with your teachers. To those of you who have been struggling, keep trying, and don’t give up, your resilience will be rewarding to you in the future. I am sure that you can meet the challenge head-on.

GPAs will soon be released in a slightly different format. Please take the time, with your parents, to have a look at them. You will be able to discuss your GPA with your teachers during parent and teacher interviews next week. Bookings are now open so please book your interviews on Compass as soon as possible for Thursday evening and Friday. These interviews will be online only.

In Term 4, we hope to be back onsite with face-to-face learning. We also hope to have our usual assemblies where we will be explaining how you can change your course selections for 2022, if necessary, and how the Headstart program will work.

Please remember that during the lockdown we still have a strong focus on attendance.  Ensure that you attend all Teams meetings at the start of your classes. If, for any reason, you cannot attend a class, please email your teacher, and have a parent mark you out on Compass or ring the Middle School.

I wish you all the best in these challenging times, please remember if you need any assistance call the Middle School Office on 51279246 or email the following:

Senior School Report

It has been another unsettled learning term for our Senior Students, with online classes, stop-start lockdowns, and an ever-changing environment. Thankfully, our senior students have taken these disruptions in their stride as they work towards the end of the year. It has been fantastic to welcome our Year 12 students back to onsite learning this week, and it has been terrific to see the enthusiasm amongst them all.

Speaking of our Year 12’s, we are on the final stretch of their 13 years of schooling, and all are urged to make the most of their final weeks at school. It has been pleasing to see the uptake of students participating in revision lectures during the September holidays. With practice exams being sent home to our Unit 3/4 students, it has provided greater opportunity for students to engage in these lectures as well as taking advantage of study assistance being provided at school in the first week of term break. Our VCAL students are working hard towards their end-of-year certificates, as the realisation of how close to the end of their schooling kicks in.

Our Year 11 students are encouraged to engage with the leadership opportunities that are being presented for next year. School Captain nominations are now open and more information can be acquired from the senior school office. This is an amazing opportunity to develop as a person and a leader in your final year of school.

Finally, I wish all our students and family a safe and enjoyable holiday. I encourage our students to study hard and prepare as well as they can, but also find some time to take a break and enjoy the easing of restrictions in regional Victoria.
