SUSTAINABILITY
PARENT HELPERS NEEDED
Each week Sophia (3EB) and her mum collect our soft plastics and take it up to the Monash Council Recycling Centre. It is an easy job - our cleaners bag up the soft plastics on a Monday night. (It is usually 2 or 3 garbage bags). You simply need to pick them on a Tuesday and drop them at the Recycling Centre for us.
If there is anyone else who would be willing to assist in helping us with this job can you please let Miss Richards know.

NAPLAN
In preparation for the 2023 NAPLAN tests the Year 3 and 5 students will be involved in the NAPLAN Practice Tests over the next few weeks.
The Practice tests
- allow students to become familiar with the online portal and the look of the tests and the types of questions,
- gives us, as a school, the chance test our own capabilities for running the test and allows us to detect any possible technical issues.
ENRICHMENT
This year we are excited to be continuing to offer numerous enrichment opportunities for our students. These include
- Maths Olympiad Year 5 and 6
- Junior Maths Olympiad (school based) Year 3 and 4
- Coding
- VHAP (Victorian High Ability Program) The Department of Education selects students to participate in the High Ability practice program attending weekly sessions with students from a number of others schools and run through Virtual Schools Victoria
- WHPS Maths Investigators program for selected students in Years 3-6
- WHPS Literacy Sleuths for selected students in Years 3-6
- Maths Olympiad tests
- Opportunities for students in Years 2 -6 to participate in ICAS testing
- GATEWays parent choice programs
- Opportunities for students in Years 5 and 6 to participate in the Australian Maths Competition
- Science Talent Search
- Maths Talent Search
- Enrichment opportunities for our Year 1 and 2 students
As the High Ability Practice Leader – Learning Specialist, Mr Okita oversees all these programs. He is also assisted and supported by many of our teachers – Mr Lee, Miss Gallagher, Mrs Posocco, and Mr Stockton.
