Year 7 Camp

From 13 February to 15 February we went to Lord Somers Camp. Some of the main highlights of this trip for me was going surfing, making pizza and the trivia night. I really enjoyed surfing because it was a first-time experience for me and I got to stand up on a surfboard and cheer on my friends trying it out. If I could do it again I would have swapped my board for a longer one so I could stand on it longer. I loved pizza making because I got  to make my own mini pizza that I was very proud of because I love making pizza and it was perfectly baked.  Afterwards, I made pizza dough for the next group. It was a really fun group effort and I made some new friends. I enjoyed trivia night with the fun questions and challenges, I also had a great time talking with my friends and giving it a go.

Something I found challenging was the SUP (aka. Stand Up Paddle boarding) I found it challenging because I had never done it before and I was scared I would fall off. Also, since we were in the lake it smelt really bad however I did have lots of fun. Overall it was a very fun experience and I had a great time.

My nerves were minimal, but excitement was high. We were all busting to get on the bus, memories coming back from the first camp we ever went on, in year three. I have grown a lot from then and can now travel without missing home as much.

Before I got to camp, I was very excited/curious about quidditch. The fun game in Harry Potter, where you flew on brooms and caught the golden snitch. It was a disappointment when they handed us a pair of goggles and palm leaf, but still very funny and silly. Of course it ended up very competitive, and with a clear winner, Gryffindor.

Pizza making was amazing. We got to make the bases, and they were absolutely amazing and it was so cool how they cooked them in the pizza fire. Stand up paddle boarding was also an incredible experience, when we got to surf them back to the shore, although we fell of a lot it was so much fun.

All the new friends I got to meet were amazing. I made so many new relationships, and had so much fun at the disco. We sang so loud we lost our voices. Lord Somers camp was so much fun and I enjoyed it so much. It was an amazing experience for everyone.

One of my 3 top highlights during this Lord Somers camp was my cabin group because even though I had a lot of people I had the best time of my life and even made some new friends. My second highlight was the fact that even though I was really inexperienced with stand up paddleboarding, I was really good at it and it was really fun. My final highlight was the disco because it was electric, everybody lost their voice and the atmosphere was loud. I enjoyed my activities the best because most of the activities I was inexperienced with but as soon as I was done with it, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Something I found challenging during this camp was the noise every single cabin had after lights out, because how are you supposed to sleep when everybody is screaming and talking as loud as they can? My Somers camp experience was probably one of the best 3 day camps I had ever had.
