Senior Girls Cricket

The Senior Girls Cricket team had a fantastic day at Duncan MacKinnon Reserve on Thursday 16 Feb. Our first match was against Mordialloc where Amelie O'Meara dominated. Amelie smacked the ball all around the ground scoring a not out 67 off just 8 overs. Amelie was supported at the crease by Sophie Keogh who opened the batting with great determination but was run out from a direct hit for a score of 10. In the field, Chloe Johnson dominated with the keeping gloves and put on a masterful display of keeping. Overall the Beauy girls were far too strong for Mordialloc. 1-0 Beauy.

The second match was against the might of McKinnon. The Beauy girls bowled first and Amelie O'Meara struck early with two wickets in her spell. But McKinnon's batting depth was strong as their number 3 and 4 put on a great display of leg side hitting. McKinnon scored 76 off their 8 overs. Amelie again was the beacon of hope for the Beauy girls however the McKinnon team did a great job at cutting over her boundaries and restricted Amelie to 27 not out off the 8 overs. The girls fell short of the 76 run target which meant we would be playing Brighton for the honours of 3rd place.

After an agreement with Brighton, the match was shortened to 5 overs and also featured a boom box behind the stumps to keep the spirits high. The beats helped Brighton score 44 off their 5 overs which was a tough tally to chase. Enter Amelie O'Meara. Amelie again asserted her dominance with 37 from the 5 overs. Amelie was supported by Chloe Johnson so put her hand up to open. There were sounds of bat meeting ball in this innings which hadn't been heard all day. Amelie was crunching the ball to all parts....again. Amelie brought up the winning runs in the final over to take out 3rd spot.

Overall, the girls had a great day with everyone getting the chance to bowl and take part. Well done girls. You represented Beaumaris with great pride. Congratulations!
