Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the new look newsletter. I hope you have had a good two weeks. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Meet-the-Teacher and Welcome BBQ event. I hope you enjoyed this event as much as I did.

Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the season of Lent, the forty days that lead us to Easter. Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. At the start of this special season let us pray together:

Almighty and ever living God,

you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.

May this time be one of outward focus; seeking you in those we often ignore.

Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.

Give us hearts hungry to serve you and

those who need what we have to give.

Thank You

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in making the swimming carnival such a successful event. It was wonderful to see so many parents at the carnival. Particular thanks to Mrs Jennene Carpenter, Mrs Livingstone, Mr Hudson and Ms Covelli for their extraordinary organisation which allowed all students who attended to have time in the pool.  Please see photos on the Sports News page.

Seminar for Parents

RealTalk is an organisation that runs seminars with students, staff and parents,  on topics such relationships, human dignity, sex and personal identity -  particularly from a Catholic perspective.  Many schools in the Bathurst diocese have found these seminars of great value, especially sessions with parents who may find talking about these issues difficult with their children. RealTalk will present an online seminar for all parents/caregivers of students in the diocese free of charge.  As you will see from the brochure attached,  topics to be presented and discussed include:

  • Consent - Principles and practice
  • Sexual consent laws
  • Teaching consent & respect principles for all ages and all relationships
  • Teen culture - pornography, sexting and image-based abuse
  • Parenting in a hypersexual world
  • Technology tips

In addition parents who attend the online zoom will have access to many resources on the RealTalk parent portal.

Given the environment in which our students and children find themselves today, I would highly recommend this to you.

Please see the flyer below.
