Welcome to all new and returning students.  I hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful break and are looking forward to the new school year?

As you are all aware the Farm keeps on running even during the holidays, so I would like to thank staff for their work during the break to enable this to happen.

Staffing

On the staffing front, the College has had two new staff members join the team.  Mr Craig Sullivan has been appointed as an Assistant Farm Manger and will be working with Mr Edwards in the Beef section.  Mrs Belynda Quilty is working in the Dairy section with Ms Holmes and Mr Falkingham.

Chicken Caravan

Over the holidays we have completed our free-range poultry facility with the installation of new fencing and water supply and the setting up of our chicken caravan.  This has allowed our new intake of laying hens to be free range.

Maize

In November last year the College planted 5ha of maize on the south side of the Farm to use for pit silage for our dairy herd.  It has been fantastic to watch the progress of the maize over the summer months. We plan to harvest this in early March.

New Student Inductions

Our first days on Farm have been spent focusing on completing inductions (safety and driving) for all new Year 10 and 11 students.  This process will continue for the next few weeks of term.

Our retuning students have commenced their normal Farm programme.
