New Student Wellbeing Service

In addition to the Psychological Services provided to the School community by Mr John Pease, the School has now commenced a partnership with Swinburne University’s Department of Psychology.

Each Tuesday and Thursday and alternate Fridays, a provisional psychologist, Ms Darcy Gordon, from Swinburne will be available to provide additional counselling and wellbeing services to our Senior School students. These services will be free of charge.

Darcy will be offering a range of services to our students, including:

  • Drop-ins for students who need to speak with someone in an immediate capacity
  • Seminars to some of our students to assist with collective issues that may arise (e.g. managing stress)
  • Longer-term counselling: this will involve a process of referral from the Girton Student Wellbeing team and written consent from the young person and the parent dependent upon the student’s age and ability to consent
  • Smaller group work, for which parental consent will also be obtained

This affiliation with Swinburne is a positive initiative for our School to assist in supporting the wellbeing of our students.

If you have any queries about the service, please contact Mr Dave Martin, Director of Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care, or our Hub Manager, Mr Nigel Vernon.
