Japanese

Welcome to Japanese at Chelsea Heights Primary for 2019, especially to the new Foundation children and their parents or guardians.
Japanese classes centre on giving students an introduction to the Japanese language and culture. As this may be your first exposure to a foreign or second language, not being afraid to try something new and make mistakes is encouraged as this is the best way to make progress.
Children will start learning new greetings, songs, words and phrases.
Other year levels have been learning about the celebration of the lunar year of the Inoshishi or boar/wild pig, that is celebrated around Asia and in Japan. Every year celebrates a new lunar year with a new animal from the Asian zodiac. Here are some illustrations:
Some classes have revised the geography of Japan and Australia. Together we look to forward to building on what was learned in previous years.
I look forward to your support in helping your children grow in intercultural understanding and learning the Japanese language, Nihongo 日本語.
