Principal's Report

I would like to start by welcoming both our new & current parents at Chelsea Heights PS. We have had a wonderfully, smooth start to the 2019 school year. I hope that the parent community has taken the opportunity to welcome our new and returning staff members:
- Di Schmidt, Level 4
- Donna Tesone, Level 1
- Eliza Wilson, Level 3
- Emily Yule, Level 2
- Sharon Juriansz, Business Manager
- Paola Decarli, Reception
- Kate Atkins, Parent Communication & Marketing Officer
A warm welcome
Our new Foundation Students have begun the school year with many smiles and few, if any concerns or tears. This is a credit to Sara Gittus and the Foundation team comprising Megan Foley and Paris Hargreaves. Congratulations to all! When visiting your classrooms this week I was extremely impressed to see thoroughly engaged new students working both independently and collaboratively. Also, yesterday when attending their first assembly the Foundation students were attentive and participated fully in the singing of the National Anthem!!
Farewell Mr Duncan
I would like to take a moment to thank and farewell Paul Duncan. Last week, Paul was advised that he was the successful applicant for a Physical Education position at Langwarrin Primary School. Paul has been a member of staff at CHPS for the last 5 years. When he commenced at CHPS as a new graduate we were aware that he has that ‘special knack’ required to fully engage students in their learning. His quiet manner hides a fabulous sense of humour and a commitment to improvement at our school. On behalf of the entire school community including students, staff and our families, I would like to wish Paul the very best and state that Langwarrin Primary’s gain is very definitely our loss.
2019 AGM
The new school year marks the need for School Council Elections, our Annual General Meeting and the Principal’s Report to the Community. The schedule for the School Council election is as follows:
Thank you to both parents and staff who have nominated for positions. It is wonderful to see that our school community recognises the importance of the role School Council plays as the governing body of our school. We all want the very best for your children, both educationally and socially. We are working hard to create a school that offers learning to support the needs of all students and to create and maintain a physical environment that is exciting and inviting. Your ideas and support will make this process far better and happen far more quickly. I am looking forward to seeing many new faces as well as our greatly valued current members on these committees in 2019.
Congratulations to our 2019 Student Leaders
Our 2019 Student Leaders were presented with their badges by Mr Tim Richardson, the local member for Mordialloc, yesterday at assembly. I have had the pleasure of inducting these leaders over the last few weeks. During this time they have set their personal goals which I would like to share with you:
