What inspired you to be a teacher?

Since when I was a kid, I have witnessed that there were a lot of people struggling to survive. Many of them were jobless and could not fund their family.

As I grew up, I met a lot of people who had good lives. They could pay their children tuition fee, travel, and did other good things.

I once thought that this world was not fair. But, I tried to figure out.

I found that the reason is education. Most people who have hard times did not go to school and did not work hard when they were young. While most people who have good times in present went to school and worked hard in the past.

Since then, I wanted to contribute in education. I wanted to be a teacher to educate people, make them aware of the importance of education, and motivate them.

What is the best part of your job?

It is a pleasure for me to see my students improving from know nothing into know something. I am glad to be the part of the students’ process.

Moreover, teacher is considered as a “hero” in my country. Being a teacher is highly respected by local community, somehow it is an honour for me.

What is one thing you could change about your job?

One thing I wanted to change is the media. I believe that an interactive media plays a very important role in teaching-learning process. Students would be more enthusiastic and more engaged with the use of interactive media.

How long have you been teaching for?

I have been a part-time teacher since when I was in the third semester of university. I also participated in voluntary teaching in communities. However, I have never worked officially at school since I have not get the qualification yet.

If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be doing?

In Indonesia, I have been running an online business since when I was in university. I have been selling head scarf and party dress. I found myself really enjoy running the business and giving ideas of the design. So, I would likely to be an entrepreneur and a designer.

If you could share your dinner into three influential or famous people, who would it be?

Jack Ma – Founder of Alibaba, Educator, and Motivator

“From zero to hero”, that is how I describe Jack Ma. He was born in an economically depressed family but he could change his life drastically to be a billionaire, educator, and a motivator.

I wanted to have a dinner with him to talk about education and business.

Mark Zuckerberg – Founder of Facebook

“Down to the earth” perfectly Zuckerberg. He is known as the founder of Facebook and one of the wealthiest men in the world. But, instead of having a glamorous life, he uses his wealth for charity. He donates his money mainly for education, housing, science, etc.

If I had a chance to share my dinner with him, I wanted to learn from him directly on how we have to still be humble and care to others even the world gives us a big stage.

Kate Middleton – Duchess of Cambridge

Kate Middleton is the true beauty. She is educated, charming, and also a fashion icon. I wanted to hear all stories she has in the dinner.
