FAQ'S (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

Where do I park to drop and pick up my child?

CURIOSITY ELC has a carpark onsite that is shared with the school.  It is highly recommended that you consider parking on the southern side of Charmaine Avenue for the safety and convenience of using the pedestrian crossing.  For the first few weeks of school going back, the carpark will be quite a busy place, so it is important for you to consider the wellbeing and safety of yourselves regarding parking.  A little morning walk is a great way to settle your child into their day.

What does my child need to bring on their first day?

If it is at all possible, it will be important that your child's first day with us is one that is celebrated and taken at a pace that allows for your child to feel secure and safe.  We will have a morning routine that we will send out to you soon, however in preparation here is a little checklist of things to have ready.

1. ELC Bag - large enough to store things yet small enough for your child to carry.

2. Drink Bottle - labelled and with cold water only.  Please name clearly for your child to identify their bottle.

3. Lunch Box - filled with lovely wholesome food.  Please remember that all rubbish other than food scraps will be sent home as we process our rubbish sustainably at the  ELC.  We will share more about our 'Nude Food' Policy with you soon.  We will be keeping your child's lunchboxes cold so please consider the size of the lunchbox you choose so that we can keep everyone's food at it's desirable temperature.  Please clearly name for your child to identify their lunchbox.

4.  Hat - school issued.  Please name clearly for your child to identify their hat.

5. Spare change of clothes.  Please clearly name to ensure that if it goes walkabouts during the day we can relocate them to the correct bag.

6. Shoes.  Please clearly name these.  You will be surprised how shoes become a little confusing.  Shoes must be enclosed toe, so a Velcro sneaker or sandal is best.  There are no colour requirements for these items.

7. Nappies and baby wipes.  If your child is wearing nappies please ensure that you provide us with a week's worth of supplies for us to store in the Nappy Change Room area.  Thank you.

8.  Medication and Plans.  It is law that a child can not be cared within a Service unless they have their medication and accompanying plans.  We will be in touch with all families with this consideration to ensure that we have all things in place to provide optimal care in this area.  Please do not risk being disappointed if we can not accept your child's attendance until this is addressed.  It is also important that you remember to have your child's medication 'Chemist' labelled on the box and the item.  Your local chemist can do this for you, free of charge.  If your child has an anaphylaxis pen as part of their plan but they do not have one then it is now law that you supply one.

9.  Library Folder - We will begin Library Visits in our second week together, however we will be organising the groups and tagging the bags.  Please send your child's Folder with their name written on the tag.
